Schell Games is a highly talented group of artists, programmers, producers, and game designers led by game industry veteran Jesse Schell.  We like creating family-friendly games that are transformational and fun.  Presently, we focus on creating a wide variety of innovative gaming experiences including theme park installations, next generation consoles and virtual reality platforms.

We are seeking a Learning and Development Specialist to add to our small but growing talent team.  The ideal candidate will champion studio culture by developing and delivering training for Schell Gamers, displaying strong alignment with our core values, mission statement, and studio principles.  This position will also coordinate and manage the Schell Games Apprenticeship Program in partnership with the Community College of Allegheny County's Multimedia Programming, Simulation and Gaming program.


Areas of Responsibility:


  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with HR and studio department leadership in order to identify thematic skill gaps and nuanced needs of diverse teams, craft continuing education curriculum, and ensure consistency and inclusive language
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of HR to facilitate and execute the studio’s strategic goals for ongoing studio growth and individual talent development 
  • Champion the value of a diverse, inclusive, representative, and equitable work environment
  • Source and coordinate top-quality external training, whether virtual recordings or speaker series
  • Facilitate and conduct regular studio-wide required training on topics such as: craft skill, industry current events, comprehensive DEI and accessibility skill-building
  • Manage new hire orientation for all new team members, onboarding new team members to studio culture and processes
  • Assist the Senior Director of HR in the full-cycle performance management process, including 360 peer feedback, manager feedback training, new manager orientation and ongoing support, advising and crafting developmental roadmaps to level up performance
  • Seek, provide, and address feedback from all segments of the studio in order to improve the talent training and development process 
  • Research L&D best practices, advocating for the employee experience
  • Develop methods and KPI's for measuring effectiveness of all programs that support organizational development
  • Manage the Schell Games Apprenticeship Program and mentor SG Apprentices, providing coaching and career guidance
  • Participate in co-leading the studio Inclusion Advisory Committee with other HR team members and CEO
